As you said they look ugly but they do work great and out of the 4 I got never had one problem with a touchscreen and a lot less drivers to install or to mess up :) .

Stupid me :(
I was just going to leave them feedback when I noticed that I bought 2  and they only sent me 1. Maybe this one will have ....maybe a battery

Both of mine were in separate packages, and they shows up at different times. At least the online tracking was dead on.

Those guys have a less than great customer attitude. I bought 2 BG2 and one GB3 recently. They sent me 3 GB2's. All were packed pathetically, one thin sheet of bubble wrap around the middle, nothing protecting the ends (where the GPS is). Two of them slid around during shipping enough to break the ends out of the boxes and showed up taped on the ends by USPS. Both GPS units slammed around enough to break loose the GPS rubber antenna housing, don't know yet if they work at all or not. When I complained, they denied any packing problems and told me to send back the $7 junk GB2 before they would ship me the GB3 I paid for. I told them it was BS, maybe I should just post a warning on their feedback so others wouldn't get the same. Eventually they refunded my money. But boy talk about crappy customer attitude ...

Ok, I got them gone through today. I have a reqest for two of the complete units so that leaves two semi whole working units just missing minor stuff and one I stripped to the mother board keeping a screen, keyboard and a set of rubbers. There are other rubbers and if you want a complete machine you can have it for the price of shipping. I got what I need off of them. I will have pictures up soon. SPRINGFIELD and TOUGHASNAILS will have first pick of the parts. They already have a few in reserve. I have started testing batteries so we will see how that goes and will report back. I am posting the pictures and stuff in the new itronix sales forum. There will be a ix300 in there too.

Maybe there is hope for those batteries, I couldn't even get the battery utility in the bios to see them on the gobook 2. I put them in my gobook 3 under windows and the battery utility wouldn't even start for me. I tried again in the gobook 3 of mine under the bios utility. It was at 0% for a long time, it's showing 4% now. I will know in the morning. Got two more batteries to try after this. Hope they work. If the work I will get back to you on them Springfield.

Oh, yes. Santa HAS been busy. But I'm talking about the 260+ that ADOR pointed me towards on eBay; it just arrived today very well-packed and EXACTLY as described. A few notes while Windoze loads...

It has:

1GB RAM, 1.8GHhz Centrino, 30GB TravelStar, GPS, TS and battery which does appear to be charging. It's in fair to good condition, has perfect screen with better than average brightness and all covers intact.

First impressions:

It's coyote-ugly. No, really. If a ToughBook and a cinderblock had an illegitimate love-child, this would be it. It looks more like one of my engineering-class prototype devices in a screw-together generic box than a laptop.

HOWEVER. Once you get it fired up, as with every other junkyard dog computer I ever built, what you notice is what's on the screen not what the box looks like.

All the service covers are nice, rigid cast pieces, unlike some on ToughBooks. +1 GoBook. The latches on the media bay are shrouded by these !@#$!%!! wings which, while I can see they're supposed to protect the latch, make it so you almost need 3 hands to open the door. The PCMCIA bay has no such interference and is as convenient as the other is a PITA. -1 GoBook.

Not too impressed with the plastic top LCD shroud; I certainly will not be using it as a stepstool which I HAVE done before, all 300 lbs of dwagon fatback standing on my ToughBook. Also the plastic parts; instead of using self-tapping screws, they have these brass blind nuts and machine screws. I know they're supposed to be better; but the plastic always cracks out around the brass and they come loose. This unit is no exception and I frikking HATE fixing those things. Also, after looking at how the parts go together, I can see a clear path for even rainwater to get inside the LCD cover, and the LCD is NOT completely sealed under the inner sheetmetal shroud. -10 GoBook.

I REALLY like the handle functionality-wise; as ugly as it is, being able to use it to tilt the laptop is EXCELLENT. +1 GoBook.

I've found in my pile of bits another compatible power supply; this one is a Toshiba Part # PA3468U-1ACA Model # PA-1750-04. It's rated 19V @ 3.95A, EXACTLY what the GoBook rating plate calls for.

Okay; I'm at the desktop on the new install of Windoze; time to go load drivers.

Oh, BTW - I've named it: CRUSHINATOR ;)

:lauging: :lauging: I gotta remember never drink anything while reading your posts :D . Well glad you got it. Should not be very hard to load all the drivers...there isn't very many to load. Only thing I had problems with is the GPS but once I found the right com port I was done. One thing for sure the price was right.
