FZ-A1: how to install android market/playstore?

#1 Post by cbfalex »

 hello everyone!

i am a toughpad-newbie with a big problem: i bought a FZ-A1 on ebay, everything works well with android 4.0.3 ics, but i have no playstore or android market installed. i did a factory reset, but this didn't help. i asked google with the result that i can only install the playstore (gapps apk-files) manually when i root my device, but i did not found how to root my FZ-A1.
is there a way to install the playstore manually? or should i try a firmware-update? which firmware has the android market included? which version of the playstore works on the FZ-A1?

thanks a lot for every help, i hope i can use the playstore to download apps soon, kind regards from austria (not australia ;-), alex

One or two things you can do. I know you can add a extension to your browser and from your pc down load any .apk file you want directly from the app store, then load them manually. There use to be a older playstore .apk you could download then it would update it's self, but it's been so long since I have had to do it.

Does the toughpad come with any kind of store at all?

thanks for your reply! no, the toughpad has no kind of store installed. do you know where i can download the older playstore-apk-file? is it only 1 apk-file or more than 1? google told me that i have to install at least 4 files (playstore, google services, account and framework)...

and where can i find the usb-driver for connecting the toughpad to my old windows-xp-pc and copy apk-files from my pc to the toughpad?

@toughasnails: thanks for the androidpit-link, i will try it. btw: which firmware runs on your FZ A1?

i already know the thread on notebooksreview, but unfortunately there is nothing about the playstore. i think the best thing i should try, is to find an old playstore-apk. any ideas which version of the playstore i should try?
and has someone sucessfully connected the FZ A1 to a win xp-pc via usb to transfer files from pc to toughpad?

I am suspicious that you got a demo model.
I had one here that I could not load stuff onto it. I had to replace the entire motherboard.

Here is the id sticker from an official unit.
Your tag does not match.

Go to the info pages on the tablet OS and see how much memory it has.
