I've thought about trying to find a third-party parts on Ebay or similar. Have many times managed to find impossible spareparts for other computers there. Sadly I can only find 10.4" elements right now.

Thanks for the table. It seems as if it were from the MK7 6500 in brightness.
Swap a screen of a 19 Mk5 on it and be done with it, f the ALS because it's useless and annoying anyway.

Thanks Shawn, but I do not want to sell it. The idea is to use it as a additional navigation computer for the boat. It would be perfect with a rugged computer in such environment that is a little bit tougher. If I can’t find a LCD and touchscreen, I will wait until one shows up. :)

That could actually be an alternative. I don’t know what ALS is, but the difference in brightness should not affect when it is supposed to be used in the cabin at the chart table on the boat.

First I will start by taking out the broken 10.1” LCD element and compare with the images of 10.4” available online. Maybe it can go with an element from a lower series and somehow make it fit , and if not, I just order a bezel that fits for the 10.4”.

What a great forum BTW :)

The problem is not the physical compatibility.
The problem will be the electronic differences.

mk5, mk6, mk7, and mk8 screens are all that may work without burning something up.

mk1 through mk4 will not work. They are incompatible.

Thanks for your friendly advice Shawn!

Where do you find the search for model vs. part number?

Many of those who put LCD displays on sale on Ebay only put the part number up, and do not write what model series the screen comes from.

The question is whether I can use the chassis from my current computer and swap the touchscreen and the LCD elements from the MK5 and MK6, or if I have to buy an entire screen?

My information comes from years of research and collected documents.

The official part number is different for each mk. (mk5, mk6, mk7,)
In my experience, the lcd itself is probably still compatible from mk5-mk8

I know a guy who swapped a mk5 lcd into a mk7, but he ended up changing the wiring also.

Thanks again Shawn,

Just took i apart. It looks slightly different from those elements that are on sale on Ebay.

Guess I just have to wait until it shows up. :)

Best Regards
