I am currently running 32 bit Windows 7 on my CF19 Mk5 with a Gobi2000 and Verizon wireless. If I instal windows 7 64 bit will I lose my Verizon until I reset the computer with them, or does the service "reside" on the Gobi itself? I am not in a position to take the computer to Verizon right now, so I don't want to do the OS upgrade if it will effect my connectivity. Thanks for any help.

Joe

Reread your post...

I believe the cards' Electronic ID is registered with Verizon. When you re install the drivers it will communicate with Verizon without needing any interaction from Verizon.

I am not a Gobi expert so let's see what others say.

Saving the settings from VZAM would be a bit of a safety net.

Still waiting on an expert. :)

Ask Rob. Hey ROB!

Okay.

Because you are on an old, slow GOBI 2000 then the service resides on the card. The GOBI 2000's are 3G ONLY which doesn't have SIM cards.

If you had a newer MC7750 card then you'd have 4G LTE and the service would reside on the SIM card. Yes, they still register the IMEI on the 4G LTE card but it doesn't *really* mean ANYTHING.... You could pop that SIM in any computer and use it!

Hope this helps!
