So I had thought this project of adding a wireless card would be as easy as it was on the mk2's I've accomplished, but...I'm at a loss of terminology for what the two screws go into to hold the card in place. Under the bottom cover, the spot where two screws would "catch" and tighten are in the middle of where the card goes, NOT at the end of the card (see picture). Any thoughts of how these things work? Sorry for not expressing my thoughts clearly if you are confused.

It's for a half height card..You need one?
In a mk4 a Intel 5300, 6200 and 6300 will work. I am guessing a 5100 will also..

PS What picture?

I had wanted to install one like yours, an ubiquiti Network SR71-E, or one of the 5100 cards I have. But where the screws go through the card(s) I have, to tighten onto the board, there is a "bigger Hole"...I'll try to post a picture re-sized...

Shawn, I just re-read your post. That makes sense, a 1/2 sized card is what lines up to the holes on the board. Will a full size card work (if I can figure out how to tighten the screws), or should I look for a 1/2 sized WLAN card?

The SR71 is a no go in a mk4..
Unless you unsolder the screw posts and move them back to the other location...
Let me tell you I was REALLY tempted to fire up the hot air solder station...
I was not happy when I discovered the same thing you did about 10 days ago...

I settled for swapping a wifi antenna for the WWAN antenna in the lid. Then I put a Intel 6300 in with 3 antennas. All the reports that I have read say the Intel 6200/ 6300 is an exceptional wifi card.

Get a half size card...It's the easiest solution..
I paid $7.00 for a Dell 6300 card with free shipping..

Do not get a Lenovo / IBM or HP card...

Save your money, I'll send you a Intel 6200.. It's the same card Panasonic originally used. I know it will work.I had it in mine for about 10 minutes...
PM me your current location, mailing address, air drop coordinates,, whatever works best.
