Battery wont charge. No charge light

#1 Post by oceanboy777 »

Hi

I have a CF-19 i5 Toughbook model CF-19VJRFX2M and the charge light doesn't come on. I thought it may be charging even though the light isn't on but that's not the case. I have tried two different batteries and two different chargers with the same results. The unit runs fine on just the battery. Not charging seems to be the only issue.

Has anyone ever experienced this issue and if so, is there a fix?

Thank you in advance for any suggestions

only thing I can come up with is a loose cable somewhere?

Hi

That's what thought as well. The interesting part is this machine is virtually brand new with about 170 hours. So how did this happen. Was it dropped or just an equipment failure.

Thanks for your input

Did you charge the batteries using an external charger?
I wonder if the batteries were charged more than the BIOS setting. BIOS settings are Auto, Normal and Hi Temp, the latter only charges to 80% of Normal. So a battery with full Normal charge might not get re-charged until it drops below 80%.

Only other idea is to try a full power pull reset, remove battery & cord, then open the unit and disconnect the internal battery and hold the On switch for 10 seconds or so. That should fully reset the BIOS.

I charged the battery in another Toughbook. I'll try the reset by disconnecting the internal battery if you honestly think that would help. But..all other Toughbooks I have plugged a charger into with either the battery present or not..have turned on the charge light.

THANKS!
