I got this WWAN module to work on Linux in a MK2:
Sierra MC8700 - confirmed working HSPA+ on Telus Network
Huawei 820U - confirmed working AWS 1700/2100 on Videotron Network and HSPA+ on Telus Network.

I am currently testing:
Option GT689W (original Gobi 3000) -currently recognized by Linux kernel but missing firmware images to unlock as of today 16 Aug 2014. AT commands acknowledged. Recently obtained Windows 7 drivers and is properly recognized by system under that OS. Haven't found compatible CSA yet.
Sierra MC8775 - no compatible sim with me but recognized and properly identified by kernel 3.14. AT commands acknowledged.

Untested: GPS functionality where applicable.

I think it is safe to update the OP. I have tested the following card both in Linux and Windows 7 on a CF-19 MK2:

Mobile Partner connection software including drivers for this WWAN module on Win7 and XP are here:

There is no USB 3.0 on CF-19MK5. The USB 3.0 features starts from CF-19MK6

My CF VZSU58U Yellow tab works fine in my MK2. I just wish it were new and actually held a charge worth a damn.

Barrmaley and I both have troubles with the lifespan of a VZSU58..In a nutshell they suk...
I am convinced that Panasonic uses cheap Chinese cells in those batteries. You can not buy a 58 battery over the counter..Only available in a new CF19...I think they are like the starter ink cartridges.
I ordered another battery for my CF19....When it gets here I may sacrifice that 58 battery and see what's inside...

Performance is not top on Panasonic's priority list.
It's pretty standard for Panasonic to detune fully rugged models down to SATA 1 and about 80% CPU speed.
Reasons are durability and heat, combined with battery life.

CF-VZSU50 5.7Ah Typ 5.4Ah Min 58Wh 10.65V

Seems to work just fine in a normal CF-19.
