Default install Windows 7 from the DVD, and download the mk4 Win7 drivers. You MUST use the Toughbook video drivers in order for the sound and brightness adjustments to work properly. If you don't, you'll end up stuck with the screen on brighest setting and the sound permanently muted the first time you push Fn-F4.b Everything else you can install following the Panasonic PDF and let Windows Update do the rest.

So I too just purchased a CF-19 MK2. I took the forum advice and used the win 7 drivers for mk4. It mostly worked.

The video driver, neither the update nor the original was accepted by win 7, so I stuck with the default driver. The sound refused to work so I stopped trying it, then when i installed the last ones that I could it worked!!!!! (using the mk4 win 7 drivers btw)

next test was tablet mode. I could get the orientation to rotate, but not to a portrait setting. it would only go landscape, so I uninstalled the rotate display tool (from mk4) and installed the one for MK3, k/l and not it works like a champ.

also the USB pen calibration tool wouldn't calibrate correctly, it left the pointer .5" to the right and .5" below the actual pen location. I uninstalled it and the windows calibration tool worked properly.

now the brightness settings work according to the power management settings. it will adjust when i use the buttons, but 1 sec later it returns to the setting. Does any one have any suggestions?

I also cleaned beneath the sticky and hard keys. the only key that lacks true goodness is the space bar. i have to hit it right in the middle, the edges are unresponsive. again any suggestions?

Thanks

The duck!

You have to install a compatible Panasonic video driver to get the brightness working right. Look for a Vista driver for your model on the Japan Panasonic site.

Here we are a year and a half later...
I worried with this for days when I was first setting it up. Turns out I read something on here in another post that taught me something...
If you install drivers so that your sound works, the tablet buttons will not control the brightness.
If you get the tablet buttons to work the audio stops completely.
My solution was to have the audio work, and I have to adjust the brightness through control panel. It is quickly accessed through the battery icon in the start bar and adjust brightness is right there when you click on the battery icon (I can't recall if its right or left click).

I hope this has helped someone.
