#1 Post by Rich »

I have a raspberry pi 3 that I'm playing with. Actually its what i'm on right now typing this. Running Ubuntu Mate, using Pithos to play Pandora music.
Here's the complete specs for the Pi 3:
SoC: Broadcom BCM2837 (roughly 50% faster than the Pi 2)
CPU: 1.2 GHZ quad-core ARM Cortex A53 (ARMv8 Instruction Set)
GPU: Broadcom VideoCore IV @ 400 MHz.
Memory: 1 GB LPDDR2-900 SDRAM.
USB ports: 4.
Network: 10/100 MBPS Ethernet, 802.11n Wireless LAN, Bluetooth 4.0.

Anybody else mess with any single board computers?

I also have Udoo x86 Ultra running Windows 10 Pro 64 bit, its fast!!!

I know Glitch does, he has been wanting to put one inside of one of the CF-27's I game him. I got Pi2 but still haven't done much with it. I was going to turn it into a old school gaming machine but I wound up using a Aopen Digital Engine I already had instead. I know they have a free command line version of windows 10 from Microsoft you can put on it also, but wanted to mod a GUI into it.

I like the idea of putting it in a CF-27, seems the biggest challenge would be the display.

That and the keyboard/mouse if you wanted to use the originals. You might have to build another board to communicate with them. It would be best to go with a different screen, one more energy efficient. Then you should have a ton of space for just about any battery bank you wanted in it.

I have always been into the little micro computers. I have a small collection of UMPC's before the market for them died with the start of the net book. Samsung Q1 ultra, Lifebook u810/u1010, HTC Shift and OQO Model 01 +. I have Windows 7 on all of them but the OQO it has XP still. I had a few more but sold or gave them away. Guess I like these because of the full keyboards on them. I hate touch interface only like tablets. I get so much more done with a mouse and keyboard.

I have 2 pi2's loaded with OSMC for kodi. Love them only issue is the wifi adapters I have seem to draw more than Any 2amp adapter handles, hard wired runs alot better. Also have the codec keys seems to help too

They recommend a 2.5a adapter now. This is helpful when using a cooling fan and overclocking. My Pi3 is running at 1.35 ghz up from 1.2 ghz stock, and my Pi2 is running at 1.050 ghz up from 900 mhz stock. Both Ubuntu Mate
