vent...rant

OK, today is month end at work, the normal everyone hurry and scream untill works "done" even though it never is. Well they complain about streaming music, it "kills" the internet speeds. Everyone in the building has the wifi on there phone turned on, all the laptops(management and half the office people included have) all on wifi. But they decided to kill the mechanics with wifi and people that have "high bandwith" use. I do 90% of the triage/diag and have to download the manuals, also multiple pdf's for the troubleshooting as i edit everything on the computer and print it out, half the leg work than using a pen. also my laptop isnt company owned, so i have to maintain all the software myself and they update daily.... My service manager calls the director and hes told about the high bandwith usage for a mechanic.... but if things are constantly downloading and being uploaded....theres use! :pat: anyways, question is does anyone know of a program or a setting in windows 10 to track/monitor usage and what not??

Sounds like you need a better system to manage what you already have.... This is where I, as a network engineer, come in :)

But the short answer is not really. Not without paying some money for some decent software lol.

BTW, it's month end for me too and we are HECTIC too!!! I know the pain! :)

Thankfully I have not one but TWO dedicated straight fiber lines that can keep up with just about anything I throw at them.... :D

My Ubiquiti wireless AP system is also stellar and I have it locked down so only a few people can use it!!! :)

The email today said we were maxing put the 20mbps internet....uhh last meeting were supposed to be 120, also stated we were down to 3 mbps....they keep adding access points to the shop, supposedly have a Sprint high speed line in but nothing coming out.... i was told by the director when this is done everyone in the building can stream movies and it will never bog down, but yet again the system never seems to improve. I had complained enough about the internet dropping out in my bay(it truely is the black hole, dead center in the building away from wifi at each side), that they put an access point right over my bay, which doesn't last in summer at all, burnt to a crisp in 2 weeks. I'd hate to see what it does this winter infront of the heater(5ft away)
