Happy new year!

#1 Post by Karl Klammer »

Happy new year fellow Toughbookians (Tough-bookkeepers? Tough-librarians? *scnr*)

I hope you enjoyed the night and started 2016 with many happy toughts.

I myself have prepared a small experiment involving a freight palette and roughly 4,5kg =~ 10lbs net explosive mass (german: Nettoexplosivstoffmasse) for a bit over 2.000 shots ammo.
Gee, that was fun.
A friend who might or might not have taken acid giggled and laughed uncontrollably for the whole time ;-)

A smartphone was placed on the ground about two meters away and filmed the 15-minute long spectacle in a suprisingly impressive / projector-compatible fashion.
I will upload this in a few days.

Cheerio,
Karl

Can't wait for the video.
Was this all controlled by a Toughbook?

Viewing that on acid...That brings back memories of years gone by.
Life will beat you into submission.

A toughbook was involved for inventory and planning.
The actual timing was left to sparklers.

I've measured the burntime of the grey jumbo sparklers (11min long side, 7min short side),
created an excel sheet with the effect batteries burntimes, output height and so on,
and finally put it together accordingly to my Excel GANTT chart .
Left side: 40-65 meters, middle 25-35 meters, right 1-6 meters.

It worked for the most part, max 45ish seconds of dark sky in between fireworks.
One effect batterie had an uncontrolled burndown due to a plastic socket which was ignited by the sparklers.
This was clearly a bug, but it was fun, so ... I'll count this as half a feature ;-)

This is the video, without idle scenes between fireworks

http://bit.ly/1OqKbfU
11 minutes and 19 seconds
137 MB mp4 format (h264 video, mp3 audio)
1920x1080 pixel at 29 fps

Enjoy - and don't try this at home :-)
