Well haven't found the RIGHT charger/power supply yet. But did order what ought to be the correct battery charger unit. Charges the batt separate from the pc. Al;so discovered that a CF card might work for a substitute hdd until I can track one down.

Well. So far 1 battery works. Booted one of the toys up to bios and let me play via usb with puppy and mint (32bit) and xp via the Hierens version. Then I remembered that I wanted to check both machines. Due to my own impatience I had just enough battery to make the other one light up. So batts back on the charger and time will tell on the other unit. But it looks like there will be at least one heading out for sale. My eyes are too old for these small screens.

Oh and I kinda screwed up here. How do I move this to the General Itronix talk section? Where I should have posted to begin with.

Hot damn. :pbjt: Ordered a universal charger for back up duty in the lab here, and the thing has a tip that JUST fits the connection on these machines. :pbjt: ANNNNNDDDDD have a few people working on tracking me down some good/new batts for them too. :clapping: :boing:
These things actually fully boot on the power supply. Will be ordering another 1 or 2. Trying to figure out the hdd issue. I do know they will run from usb, so there is that.

If it has a PCMCIA slot and you are feeling adventurous the gobook 2 had a option to boot from PCMCIA so this may as well or maybe even linux on SD???

I wish. Just the hdd area and a usb port. Will boot from usb. Ran Mint live for about 10 min. Touch screen even works on these things. The hdd area's connection looks like a cf card. A cf card even fits the pins. But the system doesn't see it. So I figure the hdd carrier adapts what ever it uses as a hdd. Like a propitiatory set up. Looks like finally found a few other sites with info.

Based on what I've read so far. I have ordered a couple of these type cards/hdd's to experiment with. http://www.ebay.com/itm/371049447100?_t ... EBIDX%3AIT
Will be interesting to see what develops.

I have a couple of those drives left over from when I upgraded the drive size on the CF-07's I have.

Here is the part number of the hard drive for those units. 62-0698-005R 80gb size, different size different part number.
80 GB shock mounted 1.8 in.
ruggedized PATA HDD

Here is a picture in the listing of the drive plug in.

Wow. Well I think I'll try the ones without proper case that I ordered first. At that price I'll just end up selling them for what ever I can get. They are too danged small for me to play with. Did order another power unit that fits and works for them. So they will both have all the same stuff. Ultimately they are going to be going away. I really have no use at all for them. You have some drives like them? But not the carriers.

I think I have one extra one left but it's pretty small, like 20GB. It's the same hard drive the CF-07 uses.

If these drives work it looks like you can just get a slip on rubber shock protector to take up most of the space. I may be all they did for there "caddy" was take a empty case and filled it with shock assorber and then the hard drive.
