****************** WINDOWS 10 UPGRADE WARNING TO ALL ALIENWARE OWNERS ******************

Windows 10 has blown out the display panels from my M18xR1 and M18xR2 within 24 hours of installing Windows 10. 8 beeps, no backlight, no boot. So, first time I blew it off as a one-off coincidence. Hardware fails, right. OK, but the second time, I'm ready to go ballistic now. Don't know if it is the OS or the GeForce drivers, but I don't see how it can be a a one-off coincidence twice within 24 hours

Mr Fox is very well respected, and knows his hardware stuff and has no problem modding software files of drivers as needed. I have spoken with him before on stuff. He knows what he is doing.

Friend of mine has a different problem with Alienware desktop systems. W10 install enables both VGA and HDMI display ports even though you only have one monitor plugged in, with the main desktop being on only one side (HDMI, I think). So after the install, if your monitor is on the VGA port, you're left with a black screen and a cursor with no menu or icons. It basically looks like a failed install unless you know to swap display ports.
Daily drives a CF-31

I installed W10 on one machine as it had the "free offer". It was a self install with little input from me and obviously provided little opportunity to add/delete options. It was on the machine for about one hour and I was so frustrated by several small items that I reverted back to W7 (which you can do within the first 30 days after install of W10). I will wait until the inevitable SP1, and then maybe I will reconsider.
One CF-52, four CF-18's, 4.5 CF-28's, one CF-29, five CF-M34's, two CF-37's, one CF-P2 and two CF-P1's. There are also two Getac A320T's, one Fieldpac and two IBM Transnotes. Not to mention the AMD 5600 CPU with three monitors and several HP PDA's. Whew! Must quit buying...no, must have MORE! Then there are the weapons...

Ineptocracy: A system of government where the least capable to lead are elected by the least capable of producing, and where the members of society least likely to sustain themselves or succeed, are rewarded with goods and services paid for by the confiscated wealth of a diminishing number of producers.

As more are installing W10 it seams that other brands are having problems too. This auto updating of the drivers is killing a lot of computers , mostly laptops from what I have read. Bad drivers, BIOS and LCD 's to name a few things.
