I may try that disposable battery idea, but we don't' have many batteries like that out here, lol. Sucks at times to be on a oil rig in the middle of the Arabian gulf.
I am going to go with the original idea and hack the end off of a old usb cord and try to get the usb power hooked up, not data.
They are real close together so I may have to take a drill bit by hand and nick the data ports down some then superglue over them to prevent any shorts. Then work on getting the power hooked up.
Looking up diagrams for that power port right now. Got to get it done tonight. I leave the rig Sunday Morning headed to the Kingdom of Bahrain for a meeting then the flight home.
