eBay's New "Best Offer Beta"

At one time when a seller took your "Best offer" it was yours but not now. I put in a best offer of $355.00 for a CF-30MK3 and when I got up today it said he took it so went to pay for it and that is when this "New Best Offer Beta " came up. So if you put in a best offer anytime you will need to keep a close eye on your emails and if the seller takes your offer you need to pay for it fast...this sucks.

Can the seller adjust the time allowed to pay before it cancels the offer? Or did someone offer more, thus canceling your offer? I can see this being a pain on both sides.

I got a email saying that the sellrr took my offer and to click here to pay so I did but it took me to tye auction and said it was sold. That is where it said about the "New ebay Beta" crap. What they are trying to do is get you to is use the buy it now more often . So guys if you see a good deal with the best offer just use the buy it now and be happy you got it or else you will need to stay on ebay untill the seller get to you offer and takes it and then pay for it fast or else you could miss out on it.

Oh! Yes! I forgot to mention that on my thread regarding Best offer and I don't like it to! Right now, you can make multiple offer even if the offer was accepted by the seller. You'd still not 100% its yours. Seller can accept many as he can. The first buyer who can pay. The item will go. The worst thing is If you are the seller and accept the offer, you'll still not sure your item to be consider sold until the buyer paid the item but mostly buyer walk away. It happened to me four times already and it sucks!

I think they (eBay) want to push the best offer prices as high as possible - so they make more money from the tax the seller pays. greedy bastards - but we knew that already :| .

i'm slightly off-topic (in the off-topic section :P), but Blair, as I saw you were also looking for a 30mk3, what do you think of this offer here ?:
http://www.okazii.ro/laptopuri/altele/p ... a130999357

it's a bit over $800 (in equivalent currency), the seller has more than a few units, with operating hours between 14K and 19K. they should be in good optical condition, complete oem covers/battery (4-6hrs)/ac-adapter, emissive backlit kb, Gobi1000, win7 license, installed, w/ Vista COA, intel 5100agn.
he also said, it had original panasonic dvd-cdrw, UJDA760 Adaptech (?) - i think it might use some adapter with a common Pana drive, as the oem drivers that ship with toughbooks are TEAC, or others.

any opinion is welcome :P

thanks,

Not really looking for a 30MK3 but it was one of them things that it was a real good price that I could not pass up. I have a logging company looking at my 30MK1 or MK2 to run CAT / Cummins Diesel Diagnostic Software (USB) so when they do buy it then I will be looking but I am cheap . I have a new battery, caddy and SSD for when ever I do find one but no hurry. Thanks for posting that link anyways and the price is not bad at all.

And how is this not like an auction?

it is if it's listed as an auction from the start. but for a listing "buy it now" with best offer, then once the offer is accepted by the seller, both are bound to complete the transaction.

Thanks, I understand that, but my point was that if the Seller can wait around for higher offers and take one of those, that is actually an auction.
