Yep. not trying to sound stupid, but I just learned a little about about rootkits.
Have you ever hear of, or know about 'GMER Rootkit Scanner". I don't want to dl and install it until I know a little more about rootkits and whatnot.

You can always run it in a virtual machine first to see how it works or reacts. That is how I use to test a lot of unknown or experimental software.
