CF-30 stock GPS

Hey guys, looking for some information/assistance with the CF-30 in my signature line. This unit supposedly has internal GPS - but I can't seem to find it. There are no GPS options in the BIOS, and Google Earth is unable to detect it when scanning any COM ports when set to NMEA. I checked COM3 in Hyperterminal and didn't get anything.

Where does the GPS physically live on a unit with these specs?

Any tips on finding it (in software or hardware)?

(Note: under the keyboard shot: http://chrishutton.com/temp/2011-03-24%2013.46.50.jpg. Card top center is clearly the WLAN. Card lower left leads to the under the keyboard antenna, I assume this is Bluetooth...)

Naw man, you don't have a GPS module installed. If you did it would take up the LEFT zif connector and it would be mounted just underneith the plate.

Additionally you will have a fairly large bumpout in the upper right corner of the screen which is the antenna.

Where did you get this from? eBay? If so do you have an item number? Did they sell it WITH gps or did they not even mention that it had gps in it?

Thanks

BTW, according the full model (FADAQAM), this unit does NOT come with factory GPS...

Odd. The official Toughbook configure page at http://www.panasonic.com/business/tough ... puters.asp states:

WinXP (Vista COA), Intel Core 2 Duo L7500 1.60GHz (Centrino), 13.3" XGA Touch, 80GB, 2GB, Intel 802.11a/b/g, TPM1.2, Bluetooth, Emissive Backlit Keyboard, Gobi, No Drive, No Keyboard, GPS

This was a local purchase. The GPS wasn't a huge selling point for me, so if it turns out that it doesn't have it it wouldn't be a huge issue.

Which ZIF connector are you referring to?

Disregard, I see where you're talking about now.

Still confused by Panasonic's site information though.

BTW, did you ever get the e-mail I sent a while back regarding the forum logo?

I never got a logo email... what email did you send it to?

It is very odd... you are right... the NEW configurator tool shows that it DOES have GPS... but it is in fact WRONG! Here is a snapshot of the OLD configurator tool that I still have on my local workstation:

W00T!
