The above threads deal with a NBR member putting 8 GB of DDR 2 ram into his CF-30 Mk2 directly.

If one of the 4gb chips you have works by it's self, it may not match well with the 2 gb sticks to work. If you can get one of those 4gb sticks to work and have any other old ram laying around or can borrow from another pc you can try that to see if you can get it to work.

Well, I don't have extra RAM sticks laying around, but if I get brave I might try it again using each 4gb stick separately to see if they each will work independently.

That would be my first plan of attack as well. But mentioned the ram incase you had a old 512mb or 1gb ram laying around like some of us do.
