CF-30 Battery Light flashing

#1 Post by dryster »

I noticed in the middle of the night that one of my CF-30's green battery light was flashing and so I plugged it in and it's still flashing but the TB does not start or even go to the BIOS screen. Anyone know what's going on?

I've read in the manual that "In high temperature mode, the battery pack is discharging the power to 80% of normal temperature mode. Do not remove battery pack in this status" which would make sense if I could boot the TB but the unit is unresponsive.

I did remove the battery and tried it in another TB and it works, this CF-30 appears to have gone to TB heaven as even with no battery and no HD in it does not POST any more, I expect the flashing light was a cry for help from the battery "Get me out of here"

Do the power pull reset thingy.

1. Pull battery.
2. Dis-connect power supply.
3. Hold switch on for 20 seconds...repeat several times.
4. Plug in power supply. (not the battery yet)
5. [F2] [F9] [F10] (boot to bios, set to defaults, save)

Hi Shawn, tried that just now. After doing it, using a known good power supply the power "Z" light next to battery light does not illuminate. If I cycle the power on switch the HD light flashes once only (does not flash on subsequent switch cycle) - I will try the power pull thingy a few times with hope in my heart but I fear the worst for this patient.

It solves a problem though, this is a CF-30C and I have CF-30K with no caddy, so there will be a heart transplant with no extra cost to me and eBay will get a parts machine.

Try first to replaced the ram with a good known RAM before you go anywhere. One slot at a time. Pull out known ad on hardware like wireless card, media drive, harddrive and etc.

What he said. Sounds like a bout I had with ram last week and several other times.

When you find the bad ram break it in half....that particular stick gave me trouble before.:D
