Dual Passthroughs?

#1 Post by QldRtv »

the aerial connector at the back of the base that matches up to its partner on a dock

is it only WLAN, WWAN or GPS?

Is it possible to change to the dual connector that I see a lot of secondhand docks are set up for, and if so, what are they usually hooked up to?

Assuming it's for your CF-30KTPAX2M that's in your signature it's a single pass that is selectable in the BIOS.

Passthrough upgrades are tough.

TEO knows more about this.

Thanks!

Yours is most likely WWAN.

As far as changing goes it is pretty straight forward. The holes match.

Then you must pull the bottom and decide what you want of the antenna leads. The pass-through is basically a switchable junction block for whatever cable is attached.
A four inch (or so) antenna lead(jumper) can be connected from aux on WLAN card to PassthroughPCB and the cable from aux-WLAN antenna in the lid connected to the PCB. Same goes for GPS if you decide you want that.
Need confirmation but the wiring layout is straight across on the dual PCB.

I prefer to remove the PCB through the hole under keyboard. It's held by two odd sized screws so tape them to the table or something instead of dropping 'em on the floor like I do. :D

Too much info?

They are just antenna wires but always pull the battery first. :) By all means wait for Teo to chime in as most of my experience is with CF-29....

top stuff, thanks for the help, just trying to upgrade what I can while I've got easy and fast access to parts, where I normally am is fairly remote, so whatever I can do to upgrade range and performance is a bonus

Oh yeah, the back door says GPS and EXT Antenna. Looks like a bad touch panel....but I have four or five more. Now which one did I change the panel in? Backlit keyboard too. WWAN works.

If you have not already ordered that other one we should talk.
