Worn out touchpad on my CF-30 (MK2)

#1 Post by MrWhite »

Hi :salute:

I´m new to this board and I´m from germany. So please excuse my bad english :notworthy:

Regarding my problem/question:
I bought a used CF-30 (MK2) which has a worn out touchpad. My local dealer in germany wants to charge me 150€/$170 for a new one (including installation). Due to the fact that I only payed 200€/$220 for the used CF-30, this is no option for me. Is there a (much) cheaper way to get it replaced? Maybe a DIY-solution? Thanks in advance!

Just hunt for the part and fix it yourself?

I'm sure you can find cheaper if you keep looking.

Thanks! Sounds good! Is it easy to change the touchpad? I found a video on YouTube, there it seems a Little bit tricky?!

yes it is tricky.
Too much heat or force will destroy the palmrest.

Here is a better solution. Buy this and swap all of your parts on it.

@Shawn:
Thanks for this solution, but I´m quite unsure swapping all my (visible) good parts in this worn out thing ...

If you are unsure about a hardware swap, you really do not want to try swapping the touchpad yourself. It requires a lot of finesse.

Ok, so maybe I´ll look for an independent workshop over here who can do the touchpad recplacement or a swap
