Aint this a kick in the jewlz. Just had a friend at work loan me his cf-30 discs. 3 discs total. XP serv pak 2, Vista bus 1, and the utility disc. Reformated my mint drive. Currently only 1 hdd for the 30 here. Loaded the xp disc, not for this machine. Loaded the Vista disc, not for this machine. :cussing:

Took the time to load the discs each into a linux machine. Read thru the assorted files and learned that these discs are for a MK3 and my poor little thing isn't. She's only a mk1 or 2 I forget. :pat:

Well back to linux for her. Maybe Watt this time.

So how many CF-30 caddies do ya need? I can see 12 from the kitchen table.

Typing on a rkb if typo's show up in this.

Kerry didna want any caddies so max 5 available.

Old business: I picked up a CF-51 (off the floor)....turned out to be an L model. Did I send you an L with a cracked corner? Maybe I DID have two L's. Just sorting it out. :D
Fair for you/ Fair for me.
I chose to NOT be organized.

Well had to look back thru this stuff to recall what mk the 30 is. 1 or 2? Boy that was no help. No internal wireless but has the switch. Hmmnn. Linux does not see the wireless so guess that's a dummy switch. The hdd is still split formatted in preparation for the 7 and linux dual boot it never saw. So seems that will have to get and add a wireless set up internally. I'll have to open it up and eyeball the lack of wireless before tracking a unit down. thinking thinking thinking.,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

So what have I learned over the past 18 hours about my cf-30? It's a spoiled bratt. It isn't a mk 1 or mk 3 . So must be a mk 2. Figures, no recovery disks on file here for that. I know the coa sticker on the bottom is a vista and that it's a xp down grade-able model. So thinking about saying bump it and just doing a 7 32 bit pro and adding as needed. It does not have T/S so those drivers aren't a concern. Until I open her up the plan is to wireless via pc card dongle. I don't use that slot for anything else. Also plan to add a usb adaptor to the L shaped pc card slot next to it above the dvd player. Yea I'm bored again.

If you have a mk3, use a win7 recovery disk on it and swap the caddy back to the mk2.

What is this bored thing you speak of? I don't understand

Don't have a mk3. So doing it the hard way. Was too lazy to find a 32bitpro so using the 32bit ultimate that was on top of my desk. Then will do the driver and file type things as needed. I'll have to track me down a mk 3 or better some day.....................
