WINDOWS 7 on CF-30 (mk-1) Ideas???

#1 Post by copracer1990 »

Has anybody tried to load WIN 7 (latest release client/beta 7100) on their CF-30? I am looking to put a 150 Gig 7200 RPM drive in and load it with WIN 7 but not sure if anyone has crossed this bridge yet. I have 7 on another one of my laptops and it really flies. I loaded up my 30 with 4 Gig of RAM, so that shouldn't be an issue. I thought that Rob tried 7 a while back, but wasn't too sure on particulars. Any input would be appreciated.
If it isn't broken, take it apart to see why it is working!!

I posted the pics and video on my site here: public_downloads/index.php?dir=CF-30%20 ... 20Install/

I like it! I give it a thumbs up! :blob:

W7 is the cats ass. I now have the RTM on all my machines. On my CF30's I still cannot get the screen adjustment to work properly. If I hit the FN Keys and try to adjust it will show on the screen, do it's adjustment, then about 2 seconds later it pops right back to the old brightness. I have to go to the Power Options window and adjust it manually. That's the only way I can get it to stay. If I could get that 2 work it would be 100% perfect. I run 1 of my 30's in my vehicle full time and I am always needing to adjust the brightness depending on the time of day.

BTW, the Concealed Mode is awesome! I used it for the 1st time in the line of duty last week. What a awesome feature.

I think he might need the RTM (7200) version, no? I remember someone saying there were still bugs in the basic bata version that got fixed on the RTM. Anyone know for sure?

EDIT: was specifically referring to the FN keys not working properly under the Beta versus the RTM.

I bet that you are right Doobi
I installed w7 beta in my cf74, cf30 and cf19
I ended out removing it because of lack of hotkey support
I had less problem this time with the RTM version
The cf-30 mk-1 touchsceen is 100% working
The cf-19 mk-1 digitizer is 90% working, and I use the cf-19 all the time and have not even bothered to try to resolve the 2 or 3 issues that remain on it as I am trying to finish off a few mods on the cf-30

Alex, the Fn key still does not work correctly for the screen brightness. Still having to adjust it manually in the power options window. I am running the RTM version. That is the only thing that's not working.

This is what it does exactly; If I adjust it via the Fn key it will change the brightness for about 3 seconds, then it just goes back to where it was b4 I adjusted it. The pop up shows up and all. It is the wierdest thing to me!

Any ideas? Thanks
