I'm going to guess here,if you are using google earth then your speed would be based on internet download speed,thus why the iPhone is faster.

Have you tried tethering your phone to the laptop for internet? I realize your GPS position is determined by satellites but isn't google earth internet based?

Strictly guessing here. :D

yes it is internet based. my phone is on my network so the speed is the same. and my other laptop loads it right up but it has a faster cpu. i am hooked on the toughbooks now so i am ready for a 31 already.
