So here's the deal,I have a high mileage mk1 touch that is a hanger queen,it has already lost some major parts. I have a 2200 hour mk3 that is very pretty but it is a non touch model,I already poked around and see it isn't a straight up switch the top deal .

So enlighten me as to how it is done. :D

I would think you could just swap out the entire top lid. Case, LCD, panel, and all.

Nope, connectors are different on the board. I took both apart cuz I was bored and I'm at a standstill.

Believe the Mk3 has LED backlight, earlier Mks are LCD. So they are not interchangeable.
Might be able to swap just the bezel with touch panel from Mk1 to Mk3 but I've not personally tried it or closely examined both. Maybe Jeff knows . . .

Makes sense as the connected was different,I also just happen to have one of the US Navy mk3's with touch. If it is a straight up switch I will go get it from a guy and do so,been trying to sell it but why not make 1 very sellable mk3. :boing:

Nope! The MK3 still uses CCFL tube. The only difference is the connector on the mobo and the glossy lcd together with TS panel. You can still use the whole LCD assembly of the MK1 but you need to change the harness. The top half LCD assembly of MK2 is perfect but as I said you loose the clarity effect of the LCD.

Be informed also that the LCD of the MK3 must always be with TS panel of it or its mate otherwise there is a rainbow effect on viewing.

So if I understand correctly I should use the entire mk1 LCD and everything, just change the harness?

Ok,I got everything switched around.I'm having a time with this thing,it refuses to calibrate. It wont even try to ,either with the tablet setting in control panel or the fujitsu calibration. Touch works until you try to calibrate it then it freezes up and you have to restart.

I'm running windows 7 pro on this,so any ideas?

Set bios to defaults
Ensure touch is either tablet or auto with tablet enabled [F10]
Super Key (between function and alt windows looking thing)
Type cali
Select tablet pc settings
click setup
touch the screen
tap reset (removes old settings)
tap calibrate
etc
