How warm is warm? The bottom of my toughbook never feels nearly as hot as my Dell Mini 9 used to get.

Looks like I have some insight into the problem, maybe with a little help I can completely eliminate it but it should be usefull if anyone else has a similar issue. It turns out, the computer only goes into "low backlight mode" if it is plugged in during boot-up. I can plug it in while running with no problem, as long as it is unplugged while I boot it up. I am thinking about buying a new battery at some point, this battery has at least two or three hours worth of juice left in it but that might help the problem if it has to do with overheating.

Is this a Mark 2?
Battery ACPI Controlled
Temperature ACPI Monitored
I have had ACPI issues with Mark 2 before.
Do you have a Linux Live CD?
