GOBI-1000 not streaming nmea

#1 Post by kbeelman »

Hello,

I've looked all over and I can't find a solution to this. We have several CF-30's that do not have Panasonic's integrated GPS, but they do have GOBI-1000's. I see in Device Manager that there is a Qualcomm NMEA device and it is on Port8. I have not been able to stream NMEA information into VisualGPS. I have looked all over this forum and other websites. I see that the DIP switches are correct (there is nothing to turn on GPS, they just tell the sled that a GOBI is installed), the driver is up to date AFAIK, but I still cant seem to get it to work. I have seen elsewhere that the GOBI-1000 does not have integrated GPS, but I find that strange since device manager shows a NMEA device. Is device manager lying/confused, are we doing anything wrong, or is GOBI-1000 just not GPS capable?

Thanks in advance!

I don't think GOBI 1000 has built-in GPS, only the GOBI 2000

Affirmative!

GOBI 1000 does NOT have GPS
GOBI 2000 DOES have GPS.

So even though there is a NMEA COM port in device manager, it isn't streaming any information?
