Hi, thanks for the welcome I have been lurking for a while and reading all the tips on here.
yes its a CF-30 Mk1 originally it had XP installed, I did the Vista bios update installed and updated Vista then ran the Win8 upgrade advisor then downloaded and installed Win8, I had no problems with drivers. I think its going to take me a while to get used to Win8 prefer Win7 at the moment I'm sure I will get used to the new layout eventually lol

I just have try the Win8 install on my 2x CF-19 Mk2

Glad its working good for you. I tried it way back when they were still doing testing on it and it had a lot of bugs in it but I am going to try it again once I find enought time...maybe on my CF-19 .

I have installed it on one of my CF-19 Mk1s and device manager is showing no driver problems but im trying to work out how to calibrate the touchscreen and trying to get the rest of the front buttons working, screen brightness works on the buttons but not the other buttons.

So what did you think of the speed of Windows 8 on the CF-30 Mk 1, vs. Windows 7?

I didn't notice any noticeable speed difference when I loaded Win 8 on mine. However, I did notice two things under Win 8 that I was not impressed with. One was that the touchscreen seemed less sensitive somehow. Works fine with 7. Secondly, the touchscreen behaved oddly with some web pages. I could not use the touchscreen to click on some links, only the touchpad buttons. Other sites (using Java, I believe) just didn't work right at all if you had like a slider or something like that. I think both were more of an IE 11 issue, but you can't downgrade so essentially it is a Win 8 issue.

Other than those two quirks, I had no problems. I didn't much like Win 8, but that is a personal preference. I am holding out for Win 9. :P

All the Techies that I have talked to say Win8 is another ME. They are waiting for 8.1 to release and fix the mess now released. I have Win8 on the new desktop I got, and it does require relearning. The main thing is the new shut-down procedure, tons of fun. The UI is different and a pain in the neck. My CF-30 and 19 both have Win7 and I'm very happy with how they run. I'm waiting to see what the 8.1 release in Oct brings.
PLEASE READS and TOUGHBOOK FAQs AND STICKY'S

I have W7 on my 30 and 19 too and it works very good. Back almost a year ago I tried W8 on my 19 and never liked it at all so took it off. I am staying with W7.
