WTB Smartcard reader for CF-19 Mk3

#1 Post by wyrm73 »

I have looked on the bay and only found one for about $80, which seems about double or more compared to other models. Is it because they are hard to find? This disturbs my notoriously cheap sensibilities, so I thought I might try here and see if anyone had one laying around. I am hoping to find someone who has one and doesn't use it that would rather trade to have their PC card slot back instead and maybe a bit of cash too if they really are worth that much. Anyone have one that they are willing to part with?

I can't seem to locate the original listing I found to steal...err borrow a picture. Basically, it replaces the entire PCMCIA & express card cage if I was looking at the pictures right. And that is assuming there is no additional boards or wiring. I was hoping someone here would be familiar with them, but they do seem to be fairly rare on the CF-19. If I find a picture, I will post it.

Worst case, I can resort back to the PCMCIA adapters that I have used in the past. I was hoping to avoid that since they tend to be a bit flakey and I can't close the access door with the card inserted with that style.

This CF-19 P.......would that be what you want? It's "bottom" is tired and is looking for preparation h and a Panasonic Gobi 2000 card............tired bottom results of trying an Asus gobi card. Forget that!!!

I have a reader that will go all the way into the slot,it is just under 3.75" in total length and will fit a CF-30 with the door closed. I don't have any 19's to try it on. If it will fit you can have it.

SCM Microsystems #SCR243 http://www.amazon.com/SCM-Microsystems- ... B001HQ90FC
2 CF-30Mk3's, 2 CF-71's, CF-L1, 3 CF-72's, CF-73, CF-74, CF-48, CF-50, CF-51Mk3, 2 CF-19's,7 CF-52's, FZ-A1 and other assorted beaters.

Jeff,
What's the full model number of the CF19P?

The tricky part about this reader is that unless you disassemble and remove it, It appears the same as the Pcmcia/Expresscard reader.

Shawn wins the Google scavenger hunt...again. That's what I was looking at.
Jeff- A CF19P lower could work if you want to save the disassembly. PM with details
Kerry- That's pretty much what I had before. The card reader fits with door closed, but not with the card inserted. People love to mess with unattended ID cards and with the door closed, they never know it's there. The down side is that I don't see it either and I tend to walk off and forget it more that way, but at least it is still there when I go back for it.
