Rubber backlit keyboard

#1 Post by RDClaes »

My Bro needs a new rubber backlit keyboard for his CF-29. He's a soldier in the army and specifically wanted the rubber keyboard for the added protection against sand / grit. He's done two tours, one in Iraq and one in Afghanistan. He may not get deployed again to the deserts but he's a creature of habit. While in Afghanistan a mouse that the a key would make a great meal. When he was deployed to Belgium his son thought the keybaord looks like a great bowl for his cereal. Most of the keys still work but some milk got in under the A key and a few don't work anymore.

Does anyone have any used rubber backlit keyboards laying around I can pick up for my bro? It doesn't need to be in world class condition. He doesn't use the machine much. Really just to stay in contact with his family and do little things while down range.

Thanks!

CF-29LTQ,CF-31SBM,CF-52youngGUN,

Life's Journey is not to arrive safely at the grave in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways totally worn-out shouting 'Woo Hoo! What a ride!

Motorsports - the only real sport. If it doesn't have a motor, it is just a game.

There is always something waiting at the end of the road, if you are not willing to see what it is, you probably shouldn't be out there in the first place.

I checked and I do have what you need. I have the units with 2 ffc and with 3 ffc. Which type does he need?

Thanks man but I'd like to give you something for it or at the very least know you have a solid anytime you ask for it!

I'm not sure what FFC's are but I think that's the keyboard ribbons right? His uses the 3 connections. I pulled it apart and was cleaning all the (very old) sour milk off everything to see if I could get it working.

PM sent!

Emmisive means it's easy to type on "chiclit" keyboard... The correct term is "Rubber backlit"...

Just a tip :)

BTW, Jeff or Proton (Jack) would be a good source to start with.

Jeff has three RBLKB but you have to take the CF-29MK1 with it/them. :D

FFC = Flexible Flat Cable........ Dictionary said they had rectangular wires embedded.
FPC = Flexible Printed Circuit (I thought it was flat plastic cable for a long time) Traces are printed on. (Weak)
Maybe we need a glossary of terms sticky. Serious.

I have things covered. Thanks.

My mistake. FPC is the correct term. :)

A glossary of terms would make a good sticky.......need one of those smilies as well. :D
