Rugged Depot order for CF-53 for sale/buyout, big savings!

#1 Post by R-T-B »

I have a customer who requested a very custom toughbook configuration. The customer has always been there, on time, and always pays good money, but this time around for reasons I understand but still find irritating he is defaulting on his bill. The Laptop has fortuntately yet to ship, and I have the option to resell it, but as it was a custom build from Panasonic ordered via Rugged Depot it has absolutely no chance of a refund. So, make my loss your gain, here's the configuration, straight from the sales receipt:

1 x Toughbook 53 Configurable (CF-53JJCZY1M) $2,147.00 (what I paid)
(CPU: Intel Core i5‑2520M 2.50GHz , Display: 14.0" HD LED, Operating System: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit - [Add $49], Backlit Keyboard: CF-WKB533VM - Backlit Emissive Keyboard - [add ..., Hard Drive: CF-K53HD3212 - 320GB Shock‑mounted HDD (7200rpm), Memory (RAM): CF-WMBA1004G - Add 4GB = 8 GB [Add $102], Wi-Fi: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth: Bluetooth - [add $199], Mobile Broadband (WWAN): -- None --, Antenna Pass Through: -- None --, SmartCard Reader: -- None --, Fingerprint Reader: -- None --, Webcam: -- None --, FireWire: With FireWire - [Add $89], Modem: -- None --, Professional Services: Toughbook Protection - 3yr Manufacturer's Warra..., GPS: ---None---)

It's got loaded toughbook genuine ram and a toughbook backlit keyboard, as highlights. Note the pricetag rugged depot charged me. in bold I'm asking $1300 CONUS. That's pretty much just enough to keep my business from sinking, sadly I need the money reasonably fast. It's a hell of a deal and I do not expect it to last long, jump on it!

The order is still in manufacturing last I heard and is shipping from Japan, so you'll be getting a brand spanking new hot off the presses toughbook when it arrives. The estimated arrival date is 10/06/2013, quoted by Audrey Miller of Rugged Depot. The order number is Order #485, Rob please feel free to verify. Upon payment, I will instruct Rugged Depot to redirect the order to your address.

Thanks for looking. No pics, just a brand spanking new toughbook at a "move really fast, need cash now" price. Help me help you! :)

What is going on here?! This is the FIRST I've heard of this...

I must ask: why didn't you go through me instead??

Web order placed through Audrey can't be returned because we cannot return them to Panasonic...

This was placed almost 2 months ago, before I came to me senses and realized Rob can ALWAYS get better prices than the online discount... That, and this customer was VERY particular about requiring that configuration, and I don't think you have that in stock, Rob. You can understand why I'm a bit peeved at him, I'm sure.

Oh well, you get some money if it sells, right? ;) This hardly kills my business I run, but it certainly stings... still, I'm glad something good comes of it.

And Rob, just so prospective buyers don't get the wrong idea, you did confirm this is a legit order, right?

I am trying to check with Audrey tonight. I'll let you know.

Yeah, this unit I could have got you for MUCH cheaper... I have (and at the time had) these units IN STOCK with a touchscreen too mind you!

Wow, seriously? The guy placed an order when I was on vacation, and all I could manage to do was check your forum via my phone, I did not see anything like that at the time...

Anyhow, anything you can do for me is appreciated Rob, you're a saint man. I'll make a nice donation if you can work anything out. If he fails, this offer is still good so get in line people!

Ah, no need to keep it private man. I'm already a doofus in pulbic, not much more shaming can be done... lol

In short, Rob can't help me gentlemen. This was due to the customers insistince that he not have a touchscreen, of all the weird things, and that mandated a custom order! Whatever, it's still up for grabs if people want it. When life gives you lemons, you take 75% or so of what you spent back and make lemonade!

Heh, I'm sure there is someone out there who doesn't need a touch screen. It's a heck of a deal if so... And it does have the pretty backlit keyboard (I actually talked him into that, shouldn't have  )
