FS: CF-30CTQAZBM

#1 Post by CliC »

I have what probably is an old CF-30. It still works fine, and now that I've maxed the RAM to 4GB and installed a 160GB SSD it runs XP Pro fine as long as I'm not trying to play Skyrim on it.

I would keep it, except that now I'm in need of a hazardous location rated machine, and this one unfortunately is not. So I'm forced to part with it. I'm asking $400. If you need more info, or have a counteroffer, or think this whole idea is just insane, whatever, feel free to reply or PM me. I'll ship anywhere CONUS.

Thanks,
Corey

Wow, my apologies. I don't get on here much and just now saw your response.

I still have it, but after getting no responses for so long I just decided to keep it. I changed jobs and no longer have the immediate need for a hazloc rated machine (though if I saw a deal on one...). I also don't think the price it woould fetch would even cover the SSD and RAM upgrade costs ;). And lastly, since it's 32-bit, it works great as a testing/staging/temporary backup home router while I'm updating the software on the primary (a Soekris Net5501).

If you're referring to lack of TRIM support, it's not as bad as you might think. Most SSD vendors have "optimizer" or "toolkit" programs that will run TRIM on the drive for you on demand. Even Intel released a firmware update not too long ago adding TRIM support to their old Gen 1 SSDs.

I did have to use some care partitioning the drive along write block boundaries, but that wasn't a big deal.
