Yeah, remember that CF-50 I was trying to sell? I got a buyer, he just needs a good battery (which it lacks) and AC-adapter. I don't know the part number of the AC but I'm sure it's the same as the CF-29 as that's what I was using to test it. As for the battery, it has the following in it but it's dead:

CF-VZSU18BU

If anyone could hook me up with those things I'll be a very happy man. Ebay wants $~170 for a Panasonic branded battery, which strikes me as highway robbery.

It's the yellow tip end one just like the CF-29 one, the older IBM chargers work well with them. The battery is the same one used in the CF-28, you can't get aftermarket batteries, but they have had very mixed reviews. The originals batteries are getting old. Out of the two I still have working one is about a 10 minute battery and still get a hair over an hour on the other one (it is cycled still ever so often).

Yeah, the battery is the part I really need too. How bad would it be to buy new old stock?

Only thing about NOS, it's still old. And if the battery hasn't been used by this time, it's probably trash.

I just looked on the bay and I see the prices for the CF-28, 48, 50 battery has went sky high to what they were a year ago. 30 bucks for a used one with no guarantee on length of charge to 69 bucks plus for another one. The aftermarket ones I seen were more than that.

Yeah, and recelling the Panasonic batteries is impossible IIRC.

darn, guess I'll need to look elsewhere for my toughbook needs.

Buy an aftermarket with a good return policy.

Got a new sealed old stock one for $80... Not too bad. Will be interesting to see how it performs given its age... Will report back!

In the meantime I still need an AC adapter, Panasonic much preferred if possible...

That NOS battery holds a nearly 2 hour charge and is a "green tab, " I take it I got lucky?

I'm dumping this CF-50 for a modern toughbook, it's again up for grabs... I'll make a helluva deal if anyone is interested. Now with working battery!
