[FS] CF-50 Mk3 (cheap!)

#1 Post by R-T-B »

I need a little cash for a replacement HD for my desktop tower, so I'm letting go of my least used toughbook, a good cosmetic condition CF-50 mk3. It's ram has been upgraded to 1280MBs, can't think of much else that isn't stock. HD is a 60GB Hitachi, that is an upgrade I think. I may have swapped out the wifi card with a non-panasonic one at some point, can't recall, but whatever is in it it seems to work fine and is 802.11g. Battery is dead and won't be shipped unless you want a dead battery for some reason.

Not really sure what these ones go for, I know they aren't the most popular toughbooks arround. Shoot me an offer and I might just be interested though... Remember, the target is a 500GB HD, but I'd obviously like to be able to get a good one. Still, I'll be open to making you one heck of a deal! Shoot me an offer!

Pretty sure Jeff can vouch for me as being a fair trader,

-RTB

In my opinion these are good units. I had the Mk4's for my kids and they survived over a year before they were upgraded to newer model. Here is what should be under the hood in case anyone wants to know. They are equal to a single core CF-51. The CPU is socket-ed so it can be upgraded (recommend 2.0 Pentium M), uses CF-28 battery, the large speakers are great. I kept one for personal use as it has a 1.44 floppy and DVD drive for when I do my boot disks.

Mark 3 -- CF-50D/E/F/G/H
Intel PRO/Wireless 2100 (802.11b)
Sigmatel STAC9753T sound card
Intel Pentium M Processor 1.4GHz OR 1.6GHz
DDR-SDRAM, PC2100
Realtek RTL8139DL10/10 LAN
ATI Mobility Radeon 9000, 32MB / 64MB VRAM
Intel 855PM Chipset

Luck on your sale/trade.

Yeah, it was my "legacy" notebook. The 1.44MB floppy and serial port are great for those odd jobs that need them. ;)

I never had a CF-50/51/52. The CF-50s are sold rather cheap on german Ebay. But i miss the handle. I am used to the CF-28/29 and 27s, that have a carrying handle.

It's definintly better built than say even a Thinkpad, but yeah I know what you mean... once you have a carrying handle, you feel lost without it.

MasterBlaster, these are the business rugged line. The Mk3 ati 9000, Mk4 ati 9600, Mk5 ati 9000. Just do the upgrade on the cpu for max performance and they really fly. The next time you upgrade on that line I would jump straight to the CF-51 Mk3. I don't see much performance gain on the Single core 51 line compared to these.

Any offers? It's going to ebay soon if not. I'll go pretty darn low, try me.
