Well that was an annoying trial. Just did another w7 install on one of my 74's. This time, not thinking, I opted for a 64 bit install, and then thought to try the software/drivers package thru the forum. :pat: Remember that I already admitted to not thinking.
The package was all 32 bit and just kept throwing me conflict messages. Sooooooo..... Gonna finish updating this one thru MS updater and male due with what I have afterwards. Then pull that drive out of the carrier and drop another in it's place and re-do the install in 32 bit. Down side is that is a 500gb HDD I did the install on.

Yea it was kind of an "asking after the fact" rhetorical question. However one I felt compelled to title the post with. What can you say, it was a senior moment. The installation, not the titling. There aren't 64 bit drivers for the 74 are there? SMH. I know better than that with speciality systems. Linux would be more forgiving but MS is rather anal.

I am with Shawn....32bit. Not sure which 74 you tried it on but not all cpu/motherboards supports 64bit. Check this out http://ark.intel.com/products/27236/Intel-Core-Duo-Processor-T2500-2M-Cache-2_00-GHz-667-MHz-FSB

Yea, usually you will get a fail message when your machine can not support the 64 bit. This is a 74K model and my H took it as well. The ability of the hardware being able to support the install wasn't be concern. The fact that I can't use that neat little collection of drivers you all have on here is what I was disappointed with. The machine is up and running fine with 4 gb ramm and 64 bit os installed. It does have 2 unidentified components in manage devices. But I'm not concerned about them, I can undoubtedly find the drivers for them too. I just wanted to do true TB install this time. LOL. What can you say? I really do kind of like my little 74's here.

I have done a few in 64 bit. Some of the newer models have 64 bit drivers and you can cheat by getting those on some things like the hotkey drivers, misc driver. It doesn't have to be from the same model either.

Panasonic for the Mk2 CF-19 use to offer a 64 bit driver package, I downloaded it and used it. But one or two drivers wouldn't work for me so I had to go else were.

Well it's just not that big a deal to me honestly. I'll just end up dumping the drive I used and start again. Already have for that matter and I'm starting this install from a pre-media refresh disc. So yea that's going to take forever to get up to date. Even used the driver package from the pages here. To be honest I can't see a difference from this install than for my other 32 bit installs on the other 73. This one has a touchscreen, but when I put those installs into this chassis the OS "found" suitable drivers and was even able to calibrate thru control panel. There seem to be a few proprietary programs in this new install that are not in my others. I'll feel them out in time and decide if they are items that I even want. I tend to prefer a light and clutter free install on my "work" machines. Just programs that I want. There's even a 80 gb HDD on the shelf that has W7 pro N in it. Shelved that one because I didn't want to screw it up installing programs (mostly vehicle diagnostic) needed for work. Pretty much this is all just fun and experimental games for me.

How are you liking your gaming machine? I have seen some of them used but didn't know how well they lasted?

If it was mxm 3 I would of still had my M9750 17" beast. But they just don't make any new cards in Mxm 2.
