CF-74G Vista SP2 Shut down problems

I have a CF-74G Vista SP2 Shut down problems. After I updated it with SP1 it started up in 35 seconds and when I clicked shut down it shut down like any other Toughbook I have. I did 2 other updates and the same. Then I updated it to SP2 and that is where the problem is because it takes 3+ minutes to shut down. You can click "Shut Down" and it's like you did nothing. Then about 2+ minutes later it starts shutting down which takes another 1+ minutes to finish shutting down. This is the 4th time I have loaded Vista on it trying to figure out what is going on. I would just leave it with SP1 but I need Internet explorer 9 . I think explorer 7 or 8 was on it before but it would not let me go anywhere...not even to Microsoft so I could update Explorer "can not display page" or something like that. I really need this up and running since this is for my 12 year old Grand daughter. She came up at Christmas and this is the one she picked out so grandpa :D needs this running

Vista......that said it all right there. Honestly I am going to assume that the update buggered it,I had a brand new Toshiba in 2008 and did the SP2 updates on it.It did pretty much the same thing.so I rolled it back and turned off updates and a lot of other stuff and got it working OK. Every time someone comes to me with a computer running slow or crashing,it has Vista on it.

A brilliant person wrote these and I have used the guide to get Vista running pretty good, might be old news to you but I thought I would throw it out there.

Vista give every program at least 30 seconds to shutdown, before it shuts down. Have you run the UWT on it yet? If so you will have to run it again after the update or do a registry tweak to cut that time down. After a update Vista puts a lot of it's settings back to default, changing all the work you did to it.
