Whinney CF-74

I have a CF-74ECBADBM Mk2 that emits a faint electronic whine. After reading numerous posts, it seems that it is caused by the audio sub-system picking up noise from the inverter. There are no issues with this unit, the TS even works like a champ after I gave the screen a good cleaning. Have not had to calibrate since the first time.

Any thing I can do to make sure it is not a/some caps on their way out, or was that never a problem with the 74s?

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks.

First thing I would do is clean all the connections to the inverter.

Okay, I will try that. Need to repair a small crack in the screen bezel anyway.

Well, I wish I could say it is my daily driver.....well actually I can say that....'It's my daily driver'.....but its not true. :damnit:

Belonged to a brother (life not blood) on Vancouver Island. He buys old wrecks and restores them, with updated modern drive line and running gear. That is one of the pics for the buy/sell ad he ran when he sold it last year.

He is working on a '69 Roadrunner and a '64 Impala SS (?).

I was out to his place a few weeks ago and picked up a trailer full of used Harley parts. :D

Going to go pull the display apart on this 74 and see if it will quit whining.

Okay, cleaned the inverter connections but no joy.

I have found that it only happens when running on the battery. BatteryBar shows 18.7% of 86,580 mWh wear on the battery with just under 4.5hrs total run time. I do not have another battery to change out and see if that makes a difference.

Also, the whine is not steady. It seems it is loudest when sitting idle. It goes away, momentarily, when under load, like when loading a program. It fades in and out at times.
