Ah... I did missed that. I'd be 51 this Aug but both eyesight and memory are not what they used to be. Perhaps your other 51 (2GHz T2500) was already configured with UXGA.

I briefly scanned through fleabay's T7600 listings and some of these are fetching for what I paid for a whole 51 (less HDD). Looks like I'll have to wait out a bit longer for prices to drop. By the same token, I'm wondering if it makes economic sense to try a T7200 instead (something tells me it a quick 'NO'! :P ).

The 51 MK3LL which is the same as yours has the Core 2 Duo T7200 in it and it works great. I bought one on ebay and one on NBR....both $40.00 shipped. The T7600 cost too much ($135.00) and really its no faster. I am going to put the T7600 in my Dell XPS and take the T7200 out of it and put it in the other 51. As Alex put it......with the T7200 you get more bang for your buck :) .

My eyesight is bad, memory is short and now I can't even type right! When I wrote, "I'm wondering if it makes economic sense to try a T7200", I meant to type "T2700" ie. Duo Core 2.33GHz.

BTW, guys, I just realized that W7 64-bit won't install with a T2300 chip... don't ask... it was an itch I had to scratch!! :P

Did you see the prices of the T2700 cpu  they are more than the Core 2 Duo T7600
It should fit. Run cpuz and see what chipset yours is . my T2500 is the 945PM.

Guys,
I just realized that the hotkeys F5 & F6 (volume) aren't working. It does show the scale going up & down but volume remains the same. Mute F4 works though.

Device manager doesn't show any thing out of place. Any ideas?

Thanks.

Guys, I use those buttons fairly often instead of the taskbar's speaker icon and realized it immediately after W7 install. Just a minor inconvenience for geezers with habits. The brightness F1 & F2 key is a priority though and works as it should (or my eyes will hurt from prolonged use).

I'm having some issues with folders sharing and since not all PCs are on W7, the "Homegroup" feature doesn't make much sense. W7 can access all others but it's a one way street. XP machines can't get to the shared stuffs on W7. Will read and grope around more.

Side note:
The keys on my 1st 51's keyboard ("1/!" , "4/$" & "~") aren't working. Tried cleaning, re-seating the cable, checked/cleaned clip but no go. Does anyone have a complete working keyboard to part out & sell? My buddy's 51's are missing some keys and if I can get hold of a replacement, I'll let him pick what's needed.... or will a key from the 27, 28 work as good???

Happy tinkering,
Ron in SG

Ron I got one, just give me a few days to check and see if its ok. I just finished taking 2 MK3LL's apart last night. One was the one that the keyboard/mother board was bad but the case was very good shape and one that had a good mother board but the case was trashed. but after 3 hours I now have a great working CF-51 MK3LL with finger print reader. :D

Blair, looks like you're having fun with those 51's. At your convenience, after you've sorted out what you need, PM me the amount you'd want for the KB & I'll Paypal it over. If by chance you're wondering what to do with some spare UXGA panels (like those from the 2.0GHz models), gimme a buzz as well. It'd be real nice to go beyond 1024x768 for a change.
Cheers,
Ron
