Toughbook CF-52PFN32PE

#1 Post by Linda »

Hi, my name is Linda and I am not a computer guru.
I have this : Toughbook CF-52PFN32PE with i5 CPU
I t has 2 x 2GB sticks of samsung RAM and the PC WORK:
I have tried to increase the RAM and before I tried to mount 2 sticks KINGSTON of 8 GB each one:
Kingston 9905428-422.A00LF 8GB - COMPUTER DO NOT START.
After I have tried to install 2 sticks of 4GB Kingston:1Rx8 PC3L - 12800S -11-12-B3 - COMPUTER DO NOT START..

I have requested information to the Panasonic Customer service and this is the answer:

" Good Afternoon,
We cannot supply you with any 4GB memory as it is now end of life. We can only supply you with 2GB I'm afraid.
Thank you
Best Regards,

Shannon
CPE Spare Parts Sales Co-ordinator "

I can not believe that my Toughbook with an i5 CPU can not have more than 4 GB of RAM

Can I get help to you that you are definitely better than me?
Thank you very much

Hello Linda,
I don't know anything about Toughbooks, but I watched a Youtube video on one. :)

I have a CF52M at home. It is close to the same model as yours. I can test some ram sticks later tonight.

Dumb question....You said that you are Linda, but signed your message as Shannon? Multiple personalities? If so, you will fit in here just fine..
Life will beat you into submission.

From Crucial Memory advisor.
Crucial 8GB Kit (2 x 4GB) DDR3L-1600 SODIMM
CT5682155
DDR3L PC3L-12800 • CL=11 • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR3L-1600 • 1.35V •
upgrade for Panasonic CF-52PFNHX2M system.
Fair for you/ Fair for me.
I chose to NOT be organized.

Thanks Jeff.

Rob,
I still don't know who Shannon is. Or what a Spare parts Co-ordinator does for that matter.
I was just having fun.

Now for the important info.
I pulled a 4gb DDR3 module from my CF31. Some random Ramaxxel chip. No idea the speed. I put it in the CF52N. It booted fine and showed 6gb in BIOS.
The module was a 4gb with 8 chips each side. Low density.
The other module is a 2gb with 8 chips per side.

6gb runs fine in a CF52 mk3.
I was too lazy to pull the memory retainer from the CF31 in order to try the other 4gb.
Life will beat you into submission.

You may have bad memory. Also if you want to increase your memory above 4GB you will need W7 64bit....W7 32bit will only show or use 4GB

A CF52 mk3 takes DDR3 not DDR3L.
The DDR3L is low voltage.

The CF52 mk3 uses a Mobile Intel® QM57 Express Chipset

The QM57 supports 8gb ram memory maximum.
