Yes I did a long strings of tests and put them up. The only problem I had with the SD card to IDE or SD card to SATA was you can't load windows on it. Only linux. I was going to try and find a hack for it but never did. ( I have full size SD to IDE, micro SD to IDE, Full size to SATA, 4 x micro SD to IDE for a raid setup I never got around to testing. Compact flash to IDE also worked well in speed. Also got some SD card to compact flash and dual micro SD card to compact flash adapter.

I also tried M2 to ide and SATA adapters. They are half length cards and fit great, worked, BUT one problem. speed was locked to 30mb/30mb. Never tired a different adapter.

I will do more testing and later on. Still got a 29 Mk3 (it's set up for programing my holley ECU's and navigation. I got XP loaded back onto it, just got to reload Ubuntu 10.10 back onto it. Two CF-28 Mk2 units and a few M34 Mk7 units I still mess with. That is why I still tinker with it. If toughtech still make it he has a ide to SATA adapter he makes with a flexible end. It fits in the CF-18 tight fit caddy very well. So it should work in others as well. The adapter I have like that is in the 29 or a 34 model right now.

(all my adapters were got off ebay from various sellers, think 5 bucks was the most expensive one, besides the 4x SD card one)

I had a thread about this at the old Notebook Review forum that is now gone.
I was able to get a SATA SSD working fine in a CF51.
This is an old thread, anybody still here?
