I have tools that Panasonic has provided me. Top secret. Sorry but I cannot share as it's against my agreement that I have with them.

Thanks

I found out its a BMW specific Toughbook.

I got a first statement from the seller. The IT Department of BMW (Infosys ?) seems to be willing to have a look on the machine. The seller told me that he is interested to find out if it is a one toughbook problem or it is a general problem (like panasonic told me) to the BMW specific Toughbooks. They must because if it is a general they have a bigger problem since they already sold 200+ toughbooks from this series.

@rob
I now bought a CF53 mk4 toughbook and it seems to be also a customer specific one. Its type is CF-532SW6YME (LINDE Customer). Right now i can access the bios. Do you have a idea about the does and don't inside the bios ? I mean for example i like to load the bios default settings or/and switch the tpm modul on (Therefore i need to set a supervisor password). I am scared now to lock the machine again thats why i ask first now :sucks:

If it works now, LEAVE IT BE. Don't reset it to defaults.
Any password you set should over ride a default. Unless you reset to defaults as you found out.

Do you think its not risky to give it a superviser password and set the TPM module on ? I mean thats the minimum i have to change otherwise the machine is useless to me

Do you mind me asking why it is so inportant to set the superviser password and set the TPM module on ?? This is something you don't hear users want set.

My feeling from little to no research is "DON'T CHANGE BIOS PASSWORD RELATED STUFF". :eek:

It scares me. :help: Anything with TPM that is....is nearly impossible for the "consumer" to hack.....yeah yeah others have done it but I hacked away at a CF-52GUN for nearly two years, finally gave it away.

Bottom line...use one and only one password for everything....if you must use one.....and I understand some people MUST use them....company policy and such.

In the six or so bios locked Toughbooks I have owned, with TPM, I changed the mobo.
Fair for you/ Fair for me.
I chose to NOT be organized.

@toughasnails

Mainly i want a supervisor password to get a more reliable tool to do my work. The toughbook is used to record data from time to time also overnight unattended. At least i want to forecome some silly fool jokes to lock the toughbook as i see how easy it is if you know how.
Second i want to learn about this security stuff like TPM. How can i if i lock me out my own computer ?
Third i mean the sellers need to free the toughbook from unusable stuff from the look of the law side, at least in germany. I like to escalate this to fight against the garbage menthality. I am interested at which point what lobby will win...
