I still have my XPS 1710. Back about 5-6 years ago it cost me $3500 canadian money for it. The video card did go on it a few years ago and I reflowed it and ever had a problem with it since.. I only use it for up and downloads now and light scribe cd's in my shop.

The 52G only cost me $100.00 and it had the caddy , hdd and battery with it so not really out any money if the motherboard is no good but I still will pull it apart and have a good look at it.

I would say it would, but will the touch swap out to any other CF-52?

My original XPS is still running strong w/no problems. I used it for photo and video editing, no gaming. The units I reflowed the video cards on were from a lot sale. I knew the cards were shot, but for the price I could not pass it up. They served different purposes before they died again and then I parted them out.

I would like to know if the touchscreen from the G will work on other non-TS CF-52's, as I have a couple non-TS units that I would like to turn into TS units if possible.

Good luck on the experiment this weekend.

Has anybody here has an schematic for CF-52GU... model specifically on LVDS area.

Morgan! Btw, I've got the LCD and thanks to you and Jef. I've installed it now but the unit mobo. thinks it still has a 13" screen and it only show almost a third on the 15" screen. I know there is some jumper to solder on it or maybe a 0 ohm resistor to have taken out just like on CF-28 on switching from 12" to 13". Based on the schematic diag. from CF-52MK1 there are 4 ID that's why I need the shem. for CF-52GU....model.

Ok! if by chance you have a cable harness on CF-52GU...that is laying around for a 15" screen. It will be perfect I've guess. If not I will try to rewire this one of mine. There are two model of CF-52GU.... One has a 13" and the other is 15".

Teo,

I have found a 42 page pdf of CF-52 schematic. It appears to cover the whole unit. I will send you the link. Thank you goes to Shawn for the pdf.

Glad you got the LCD today. I was trying to get it to you before the end of the year. I found the same thing. I have an identical display of the one you received and put it on the CF-52GUN I got from Jeff (inverter gone, blank screen until you hold a light to it at an angle). Worked good but for the 9 1/2" strips on the right side. The last 1/2" of the desktop is repeated in the 9 1/2" strips. I think that if you edit the ini file for the display, you should be able to unlock the other resolutions. I think that because the units are TS, Panasonic gave the units special display ini file that gives you 800x600 or 1024x768 only. I remember a post by ADOR about editing the file to give more/different resolutions on a Toughbook.

Try to download the Intel driver, not the custom one from Panasonic.
