Rusty,
I've got a board on back-order. We will see what we will see. >$20.00. Still haven't had the guts to crack the case to find the cmos battery connection.

Had u also tried KillCmos.exe or something like this ( UBCD ) ? So u don't need to turn off the CMOS-backup. If u want, u see the yellow CMOS-battery from the left side of the TB, if u pull out the cd and battery and look on the right side of the cd-slot on the bottom. behind the battery is the connector. U have to disassemble the top of the laptop, if u don't have the tools and fingers to catch the connector from the outside ;)

Funny you asked about killcmos. I have UBCD but everything (almost) I read says don't use killcmos on a laptop.
Can you explain why? lol

Here is an interesting thing. If I remove the main battery and then plug in the power supply the computer starts automagically (magic). Same thing if I remove and replace battery with no power supply attached.
This computer was in the water at one time. Corrosion inside (a little) water mark in LCD.
I see the cmos battery but haven't seen the connector yet. I really like this thing and use it every day. I'm scared to take it apart. lol
Oh and if you remove the power and then re-insert the machine starts...yields an error message and then re-boots. And works fine. It reverts to 2008 on first start...then on re-start Linux changes the date and all is well.

What fun!

thats normal, if the cmos battery is dead :)
just exchange it and it will start after the first initializations normal with the switch.
I had no problems with killcmos on the toughbook.

What is the fastest way to the cmos battery connection? If you read the manual it looks like you have to take the whole lappy apart just to lift the lid.
Thank you.

put the dvd, hdd and battery away. unscrew all screws from the bottom, also inside the hdd, accu, ram and wlan/bios area. remove the sheets and the screws of the bluetooth and smartcard cover. remove the scmartcard cover and the bluetooth board. unscrew the plastic cover under the display and remove it while pushing from the hinge cover. use a flat screwdriver to bend softly the good affixed keyboard from the top of the chassis. be careful, the cable is near the touchpad. open the 4 screws of the next metal door. unplug the keyboard by sliding the holder from side. unscrew the cable holder and unplug it. on the top of this door u will c a screw behind a strip, which u gently move to the side. now unscrew the board with the power button in the middle next to the display and remove the cables and the screw in the middle left. fold the display to the back to unscrew the screws from top of the chassis. now lift the top chassis kindly to unplug the cable from the touchpad. lift it it a little more until u get access to the cmos battery. or if u want, unplug and unscrew the display, so u will get more space for ur work. but make a picture of the localization of the antenna cables for the reassembling
needs 10min :-)

Got it back together. New "different " cmos battery. I'm testing now. I really appreciate the help.

Ten minutes to put together 1 hour ++++ to take apart. One screw on right side was hiding.:)

I'm going to shut down now and see if the cmos battery was no good.

Thanks again.

Double post. All right the cmos battery was bad. So some progress was made. Are the pins in the cmos connector supposed to be green? (corrosion)lol
Some day I need a new mother board...meanwhile it makes a good puzzle. (bios password)

Thanks again,

Look at NBR ...I think that guy is reading my mail. (bst)
Will the touchscreen work on most CF-52? I see in the link you sent..the right (correct) 3 plugs. They covered up the bios board with the Company name.
Another question..take a G mobo out drop in the N or whatever. Do they interchange?

Thanks again Denis.
