Is the Mk2 supposed to be faster? Sorry don't know the difference between the models.

Furthermore, is boot time the only thing that's slower? Because if so, I might have a few ideas. Making the boot logo dissapear via a CMOS flag (something I discovered how to do while in the other thread) might give us a post code. And a post code tells you if anything is amiss or wrong...

...Probably not worth the effort, but if you don't mind running an experimental boot disk I'll see if I can't cook something up. I say "experimental" as in "might not work." It won't brick anything. It's only a CMOS hack, so at worst you'd have to remove the CMOS battery if it froze your toughbook, making it work again. Very unlikely scenario really. What this would give you is an idea of what's up or if this is just normal behavior.

As a test, remove the HDD and CD drive and reboot. This will eliminate them as a possible cause of the delay.

I wish I could find one for that price. I don't think I will ever get the one I won on eBay.

Having a problem with a seller are you. I got mine from this guy. http://myworld.ebay.com/gilco4070/?_trksid=p4340.l2559 . He has sold a lot of them for around $220.00 - $250.00 but it seams that the last few weeks the price has gone way up...like $374.00 (caddy but no hdd) like mine MK2 2.24MHz P8400 VPro which is nuts.

Oh, we're talking a CF-52. Damn, that's a good price!

Anyhow, yeah I was assuming a CF-51. Must've been my eyes playing tricks on me. No idea what to do then.

I got the MK1 2.0MHz a little cheaper than the MK2 . Counting the 2 hdd/caddy kits and the two 52's I have only $610.00 into these fully working 52's. My daughter is getting one of them for christmas ... she has a CF-51 core 2 duo now.
