It still needs work, but I thought I would show off what I've got so far.
I'm still surprised that it actualy worked.

I personally looked at it guys... it is something to be proud of!

I would want one too except I have a kitchen table in my truck so I have no need for one...

Although I am going to hobby lobby soon to buy Velcro to affix my CF-29 to it so it doesn't slam into my dash if/when I have to slam on the brakes...

Some flex tubing like they use to cover cable over the pipes would improve the looks. I would also consider getting a sheet metal shop to break or corner those sheet metal edges, they look to be possibly lethal in a wreck.

Nice work!

Thanks
Now that i've got the angle adjustable my next focus is rounding everything off so i don't gore myself. I'm going to try to find some plastic or rubber edging to go around the whole thing.
After it's safe I'll think about looks. I like the flex tubing, I was just thinking of painting the whole thing.

After you round off all the sharp corners, use regular black door edge guard (the type that comes in a roll) to go along all the exposed edges. You can bolt/glue a velcro strap on the base to wrap around the laptop to hold it in place. If you do not have a lighted keyboard, check out one of the small lights used in emergency vehicles that will bolt to the base. They have a rheostat to adjust the amount of light and a red filter to use at night to cut down on your "visability". With the size of your mount, you may want to consider a desktop docking station to give you more flexibility and options. Plus, it would be cheaper than buying a auto docking station.
One CF-52, four CF-18's, 4.5 CF-28's, one CF-29, five CF-M34's, two CF-37's, one CF-P2 and two CF-P1's. There are also two Getac A320T's, one Fieldpac and two IBM Transnotes. Not to mention the AMD 5600 CPU with three monitors and several HP PDA's. Whew! Must quit buying...no, must have MORE! Then there are the weapons...

Other than the velcro I hadn't even thought about any of that, and I think I might do all of it. This mount is gonna be better than I hoped.
Thanks!

Any suggestions or criticisms are greatly appreciated

I will be making this same exact thing tonight. I will be mounting a VDL01 display that I got from CAP on it and leaving the CF-29 behind the seat... SO MUCH MORE PRACTICAL! :)

I'll post pics ASAP!

That picture of the CF-19 with the UAV controller on NBR gave me an idea. Why not go around the very edge of the Toughbook with 3/4" or 1" square tubing. Kinda box it in and it would eliminate all the edges, Then you would just have to deal with the corners, maybe grind and fill to round them off.

Clay ended up using a sawzall and cut the mount down a LOT more and also cut holes on the left and right side for the tablet and power buttons. Ohh ya, he also painted it black...

Hey Clay, can you post more pics of the revised mount before you ship off?
