Moving to newer Model ...Suggestions?

#1 Post by Low_Bridge »

Considering cf-52 or 53 or cf 29-31? with an I5

Prefer DVD just a bullet proof machine that will hold up.

These CF - C1 & W5 models I've been experimenting just seem wimpy compared to my cf 52's of the past. Don't really care for the dancing lcd screen that spins around.....

I still need to run XP until I bite the bullet for a software change

Was using XP Virtual mode on the cf-c1 till Virtual created a pseudo need for a password & LOCKED ME OUT ugH!

What model do I stay away from?

I carry one with me always to access a data base.

Any direction appreciated..... & yes coin is a consideration?

Thanks in advance.

The only thing I have against the CF-53 is they have screen issues...screen suddenly dies. My personal opinion is the lcd cable connector where it connects to the mobo. Jiggles loose or something and the screen pops a fuse.
This one is a CF-53 MK1.

Bullet proof: Shawn is selling a 30 hour CF-31 i3. I have a sister to it and the machine is near new. See his ad. I know you said i5 but this one is special...especially for XP. .http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads ... t-10667910
I have a 31 MK3 i5 with 1400+- hours also a couple of CF-31MK1 AAetc with very low hours. (i5)

If you want to go as far down as a CF-29 my best is a 200 hours MK4. (NOT i5 of course) Not cheap. With gps.

For your shopping list I would recommend the CF-31 i3......and for a semi-rugged the CF-52GUN____. (not i5, extremely rugged screen lcd), or any CF-31.

Shawn and I work together a little and provide turn-key machines out of the box.

Jeff

There are a number of differences between these product lines. The Core i3 processors don't support Intel's Turbo Boost technology, for example, and they also sport less cache than their Core i5 and Core i7 counterparts. Cache is an important specification that helps the processor perform specific tasks more efficiently. Think of it as the CPU's own super-RAM.

Intel's Core i3 is ideal for people who don't require much power. These processors are more affordable, and they have hyper-threading for improved performance under load but aren't powerful enough for advanced gaming or intensive applications. This line of CPU is best suited for PCs that will be used for email, word processing, light gaming, communications and web browsing.

The Core i5 takes a quad-core processor and strips out hyper-threading. This paves the way for four physical cores to handle everything Windows can throw at the component. The Core i5 family of processors is considered optimal for gaming and productivity. They won't destroy a budget and will be more capable of handling intense tasks than Core i3s.
