Something wrong with me

#1 Post by Rich »

I almost bought a CF-U1 mk2 yesterday. I thought it would be handy to have a tablet sometimes for our marine diagnostic software while offsite. You know a little smaller than the CF-30, still has a usb for the diagnostic cable, very little typing needs to be done (customer name and date). Saw one on eBay for 299, with batteries, dock, power cable, win 7 pro, camera (pics for customers) ready to go. I offered 199 because 200 was all I wanted to spend. He countered 235 and I declined. $35 is all that kept my common sense from buying it. What is wrong with me? :pat:

there currently are two more cf-u1mk2 for 200-250usd on ebay.
http://www.ebay.de/itm/Panasonic-ToughB ... SwKtlWoBlB
http://www.ebay.de/itm/Panasonic-Toughb ... SwTapV5v~D

you could also get a cf19mk3 for less .... still smaller than a cf30 and also providing that serial port

What I meant was that I don't really need it, but it sounded like a good idea. The only thing that stopped me was $35 and common sense. I don't need it but it seemed cool. These toughbooks are a slippery slope. Rob's avatar has that haunting message "one does not simply own 1 toughbook" I have 3 now, but I had 2 more cf-30 I sold to my boss. (He loves them). Why are they so addictive?

I have common sense, but about what I have no idea. Apparently I have acquired some passion for toughbooks and I have definitely found a place that has a lot of passion and knowledge.
