Toughbooks in Cuba

#1 Post by orphanlr »

Just a quick question to the Toughbook Gods.

Anybody know if there are any restrictions on Toughbooks imported to Cuba.

I gave up on these when a donor started paying for android tablets for our trips, but after a recent foray into the land of the mojito, they are going to need to crawl first, and catch up to the rest of the world.

Our newest orphanage on the island just got a pent1 desktop, and it doesn't work. Access to the web is through wifi hotspots that most cant afford.

ROB, don't go there, it would kill you, no access and all.

I have the possibility of getting a donation of 20+ cf-30's and will go for these as long as there aren't any import restrictions.

Thanks,

Sam

I don't know personally, but what I have seen in the Middle East is a ban on laptops with TPM installed. They can't crack it, or it's hard for them so they don't want it over there. But also too on the other hand I had one with TPM going back and forth over there between 06 and 2015 and never had anyone check either.

CF-29 Mark 4 and earlier (C-M) = no TPM. But you knew that.

Good to hear from you Sam. Keep up the good work.

I have seen in the configurator on some newer toughbooks (CF-74,30,19) that it will list "NO TPM"

The problem with the Kingdom is that if they do check, their punishment is either going to be a benign confiscation, or something far more draconian...

I have a Magnaphone story that was almost pretty gruesome, as they viewed it as stealing from the Royal Family, as they collected no tariffs off it, unlike the Family owned TELCO.
