Does no one use Google Earth with a 3rd party GPS tie-in and map caching?

I tried Google Earth a couple times and never could get GPS to work easily. I didn't put that much time into it as it was for a project at work and it became quickly obvious that it would not suit our needs. I seem to recall Google Earth explicitly stating it did not support GPS for navigation as the main reason. Yes it does work, but in a corporate environment no vendor support is a huge project killer.
