Yeah, I just realized my mistake. The CF-19 is currently running windows 7. It was installed when I bought it, and it was running rather well. But difficulties with drivers and random updating have me considering downgrading to Windows Vista. Just need to know if that's a good idea, or if I should try to undo the damage from the update last night and continue running 7.

Get the win7 32bit recovery for a CF19K from Rob.

Installs everything in 15 minutes.

I shut it down to leave a couple minutes ago, and it installed another update. Now the touchpad is back...

I feel like I'm in the Twilight Zone.

You don't want to run Vista,XP is an option but Windows 7 is going to be around for awhile.I hate to break it to Microsoft but people hate Windows 8 and 8.1. And Windows 10 is the same old thing pretty much for the casual user.Just my 2 cents. The CF-19 is very fussy about what drivers it has.

John I like your thinking but...about 6 years ago I bought the top of the line Dell XPS for $3600.00 thinking that I could run every thing for the next few years...wrong. In 6 months I was running into compatibility problems. This should give you an idea how fast things move in the computer world. There is no way to keep up with it unless you have a very deep pocket  .

Yeah, I had a feeling this is where I would end up. And it does run really well with Windows 7. I still am not sure what happened last night & today; but everything seems to be back to where it was. So I disabled automatic updates, set a restore point, and I think I'll be happy with what I have. Thanks to everyone for the input and advice, I would be lost without it!
